Dave Caris, Mountain Yogi, has been teaching yoga in this area since 1999. He moved here then, from Ohio, already certified as a yoga teacher. Dave’s teaching goal is to equip others to do yoga on their own and to continue classes, at least weekly, to maintain their proper alignment and focus. Dave stresses quieting the mind and the structure of his classes helps people relax even as they gain flexibility and strength. He is well known in this community.

I received my 200RYT certificate from School Yoga Institute, where I studied the practice of meditation, along with Hatha and Vinyasa style Yoga. Since then, I have taken part in the school's newest location at the Mystical Yoga Retreat, Yosemite. I guide classes of many styles including Restorative, Hatha, Vinyasa and Power Yoga. In addition to Yoga, I received an Herbalist Certificate from East West School of Planetary Herbology which expanded my knowledge and understanding for the way of Ayurveda and other herbal medicine and natural health philosophies, contributing to my practice and guidance of Yoga and a healthy lifestyle.

Certified by International Fitness Association and Maddog Spinning.  I have worked professionally in Oakhurst my entire career of 25 years. I have taught many styles through the years including; step aerobics, aerobic dance, cardio kickboxing, weight lifting, Pilates, interval training, boot camp style classes, Latin style cardio classes, Cardio Cycling  and keeping current with new trends.  I view fitness as a long term strategy for building and maintaining endurance, strength, agility, and health. Exercise should be fun, a time to play, but work hard. Students should leave class with a smile on their face, and a feeling of accomplishment and being energized.

My name is Lisa and I just moved to Oakhurst in November 2015 from San Diego where I received my Vinyasa Flow Teacher's Certificate in 2012.   I love doing yoga both on the mat and off the mat.  I  backpack in the mountains and surf at the beach, my two favorite places where practicing yoga brings me even more joy and relaxation.  I use my practice to both energize my body and soul as well as to calm and reconnect with it.  I also have a BA in Psychology, a Certificate in Exercise & Nutrition and my apprenticeship for Healing Touch.   I find the combination of all to be a wonderful way to keep my mind, body and spirit healthy and balanced.   It will be an honor to share it all with you in 2016!

I started teaching fitness classes in the 80s!  I've been married for 18 years and have two daughters in high school.  When I'm not teaching I'm watching them play volleyball - a year-round sport!  I fell in love with the barre-style class and started teaching it four years ago.  I love barre for its wonderful discipline and strength training.  I have worked cardio intervals into the class to increase calorie burn.  Any fitness level can benefit from the barre cardio class.
